About Christopher
Read MoreOn December 6, 2012, Christopher died in a tragic accident while pursuing his dreams. He was 23 years old. This site remains a memorial to his work and his extraordinary passion. The photos here are available for purchase, as he had it set up. The proceeds from all sales will go towards the Christopher John Weigl Award for Excellence in Visual Journalism, offered annually to a graduate student completing their programs in the Boston University College of Communication.
Christopher's personal statement about his craft:
"Photography has the unique ability to tell the story of a moment in time that will never be relived. From the wedding day to a simple human interest story, the capture of emotion in a split-second is a truly powerful, almost magical, ability. The seduction of photojournalism lies in its translation of a 4D space to a 2D plane. How does the photographer interpret that change? What decisions does he or she consciously make in capturing this story?
Photojournalism is a ticket to curiosity, a way to explore the world, meet people doing interesting things and share their work with others. My experiences behind the camera have included covering the 2012 campaign trail, interning as a photographer for Panorama Magazine, shooting weddings throughout New England, freelancing for the Community Advocate and even traveling abroad to find my own story. I’m currently working on a Masters of Science in Photojournalism at Boston University."
